First let me say that this information statement is very standard. We will not disclose this information to anyone. The partners that provide this information to the PPA based upon your agreement, is vitally concerned about the use of this information. We use this information to target political actions on a regional basis. DOB is important as we are interested in voters. E-mail for electronic notification. Address for District and State.
We may make offers of other services that may be of interest, negotiated health insurance for paid members, discounts negotiated on behalf of PPA members. We are not a commercial site; we are not for profit, so our desire would be to provide services to our members that we can obtain on a discounted basis, based upon an organization of over 110K.
The PPA is not an affiliated marketing company.

Believe me, we would never sell this list, or share this with the government.

We have the best information security in place that we can put in place, but this is a standard disclaimer, as no one can ensure 100% security, including Microsoft, Sun, etc.
Regards,
Michael

Thank you for the response. Let me first say I am in no way opposed to the PPA, nor do I attempt to discredit your organization. I was merely concerned about a thread I read a few weeks ago about some online casino (BOS???) closing up shop and handing over records to the government. I seem to recall that was all based on US-based sports bets and not poker. However, your membership, as I understand it (and I may very well be wrong), consists nearly entirely of American online poker players. If Frist's ban-poker-for-Christ initiative in the Senate DOES manage to become law your members' names and addresses would seem a likely target by the gov't.
What choice do you have but hand this info over if it is subpoenaed? Honest question from a legal newbie.
Regardless, please keep up the good work!

being a member of the PPA is not proof by any means that you play online poker. If you actually play online poker, and you don't think the government could find that out very easily, then you are very naive.

Naive or not, I don't see PokerStars handing over account information anytime soon. I also don't see the gov't going onesy twosy after ISPs to pick up people playing for pennies. It just isn't feasible. However, if there were a LIST of hundreds of thousands....
