8 Hour Period at the 2/5 NL at an Indiana Casino
I started play at 1 AM on an early Monday morning with 2000 in my pocket ready to play the 1/2 game, but this game was full so I figured I would go to the 2/5 game which I have played before. Many of the people at the table had known me from previous visits to the casino and knew that I was liable to raise with any 2 cards. I played pretty tight to start off. So 90 minutes into the game, I picked up AA and raised to 40 which gets 3 callers somehow. flop comes 6104 with 2 diamonds. I bet 75 and the big stack goes allin. I call with my remaining 110. A diamond comes on the turn which I thought was the card that would get me but it turns out the other guy had 67 offsuit and the river came another 7. That got me out of my first 300 dollar buyin.
I took another 300 dollars out of my pocket to rebuy. I had won some decent-sized pots to build my stack up to 520. I play a 6-way pot with 89 which was checked around and the flop comes 107J. The person UTG raises to 30, I smooth call which is something I dont normally do with so many players in the pot. There were 2 callers. Turn comes a 2. The same person bets out 50 and I reraise to 160 which gets the other player to fold. The guy thinks about it and goes allin for about 500 and I instantly call. He has 102 off and the 2 comes on the river. There goes my 520. I rebuy again for 300 and the first hand I see is pocket kings. The table knows I am liable to play on tilt after that horrible beat. I raise to 50 UTG. I am the one raising so there are 4 callers. The flop comes QJ5. I go allin for 250 and I get 2 callers. Turn comes a 10 and river comes a 2. Q10 takes down the pot and I am down another 300. Now I'm in full tilt mode after being down 900 on this [censored]. I start playing any 2 cards and end up building my stack up to about 805 in about an hour. I make a button raise with A5 to 30 when we were down to 4-handed play which gets no folds but 3 callers. Flop comes 655, all different suits. Person with 78 offsuit bets out 50 which gets a smooth call from the person with pocket 6s. I reraise to 200 which gets the other player in the pot to fold. The person with 78 calls the raise and then the pocket 6s goes allin for about 690. I think about it and realize there is only one hand in the deck that beats me and I am playing 4-handed. I call and the 78 offsuit reluctantly folds. He shows his pocket 6s and I go nuts as I was anticipating winning back most of my lost money on this pot. I lose and am down to 115. I pick up AK suited a few hands later and go allin preflop knowing I am getting callers no matter what. A10 calls me and the flop comes 10109 with the river and turn being blanks. This is the story of how I lost 1200 dollars in about 8 hours. The person who sucked me out with the 102 cashed out about 2700 and admitted he was not the best poker player. The funny thing is he came back to the table an hour later with 100 which was the min buyin for the table. Thankfully he did not end up turning that money into gold again. Players like him are up a [censored] and I am down. What a wonderful game poker is. |

Re: 8 Hour Period at the 2/5 NL at an Indiana Casino
Maybe if you played less like a young gus hansen and more like a young dan harrington, you would experience less variance. Your swings are harder than barry bonds on steroids and horse growth hormones. You are an idiot for playing at 2/5, when you know how the game plays like a limit game, ergo your previous posts. either get on the list for 1/2, or take a shot at 5/10, because 2/5 seems to play like microlimit omaha.
BTW, I think the business writing class you skip to play poker is somehow being channeled to you, because this narrative about the horrors of poker reads like a modernized upton sinclair's "the jungle." |

Most women would kill to only have an 8 hour period.
