Default Scalping Tickets On E-Bay

Is this illegal? I think this would be a pretty good way to make money since your costs are effectively none, and even if you just make 10% you still make sweet cash.

A few questions:

What types of tickets are good to sell (ie football games, concerts, etc.)

How is a ticket transferred these days (ie I assume we're not mailing them)? Can people print tickets\ticket vouchers?

It's illeagal in Michigan to sell your tickets for a profit on ebay. Even if you sell a "hat" for $1500, and the rights to buy your ticket for face value, you still violate the law. Just ask my 2 friends that lost All Star tickets and had to pay a HUGE fine.

Rules vary by state.

Best tickets to sell? Obviously tickets to events that are anticipated to be in the highest demand. Generally speaking, you should source the best seats in the house.

When I sold some tickets I had access to, I fedexed initially and delivered the rest to hotels to out of towners.

stub hub which chages a 15% fee to the seller and 10% to the buyer has you ship the tickets via fedex prepaid lable. I have used this as both a seller and buyer and have had no problems

I wouldn't recommend getting into the ticket buisness without a ton of research. There have been tons of new laws and policy changes at ticketmaster. It makes it very hard to turn a profit in this buisness. The fees are super high and if you dont have an inside connection to tickets your going to fail. Over the last month I bought $13,000 in tickets ranging from rolling stones, eric clapton, aerosmith, john mayer, ben harper, jimmy buffet. I sold them all off using ebay and stubhub. I got back around $9,000. I am done selling all tickets. Now if you want to buy tickets and scalp them outside the event you will make some money. I wish you the best of luck if sayou decide to do it but Beware of the fees. STUBhub 15 percent to you and 10 percent to the buyer.. meaning if you sell tickets for 100 bucks it is going to cost the buyer 110 and you will only get 85. That is a deadweight loss of $25 . If anyone wants to make a sight to take down stubhub let me know.

I used to do this

the legality depends upon the state of your residence and the state where the event is held
