Default Does anywhere have free internet in Vegas?

Just wondered if there was anywhere in town that had free internet access, and maybe the use of a computer. If there isn't, is there anywhere thats cheap to play online.

If you have a laptop then you can just get a Verizon wireless Broadband Access card and you get internet pretty much wherever you go in the U.S. (and Canada too evidently).

If you don't have your own laptop it's going to be a bit tougher.

Is the speed on the Verizon BB card decent?

yes. I've had my Broadband Access card for over a year now and love it.

Cingular offers one too.
And Sprint claims that their card gets even better speeds than Cingular in some markets (that's their latest TV commercial anyway).

We've discussed this thing before on the internet forum quite a bit fwiw.

I believe if you get Verizon cell-phone service as well then the internet-card is only $60/mth.
Without Verizon cell-phone service it's $80/mth.

Buying the card is another $50 to $100 or so I think.

It's Broadband-ish speed in 150+ major markets I believe.
It's dialup-ish speed in small-towns, on the interstate, etc.
In more remote areas, the type where you can't get any cell-phone signal, you won't have any internet signal.

The speed on broadband-access isn't exactly like a T1 line.
But it's 200kb to 500kb much of the time. Bursts up to 2mb. Something like that anyway.

It's plenty fast enough for me and plenty fast enough for multi-tabling across several sites and streaming music or video...whatever.

More and more airports and hotels are charging $10/day for hi-speed access.
If you travel a fair amount then that alone can make the Verizon card worthwhile.

I'm going to be moving from town to town for a couple years beginning in a few mths.
I won't have to set up new internet everywhere I go. I already have it.

Additionally, when I got it they offered a 15-day trial-period with a full-refund if not satisfied. I assume they still offer this so if it's something that interests you then you can give it a try.

I found the phone-support at Verizon to be very helpful regarding my Q's on the whole thing.

The convention center next to the Hilton has a Verizon free access point. There are some search sites, just google wifi access.
