I agree Harrah's is better than Trop, but I wouldn't pay a dime extra to stay at Harrah's over Barbary Coast. Particularly since they remodeled the rooms.

For the things you mentioned, Harrahs is a much better choice based strictly on location.

I love the Trop, but not for poker. For general gambling (poker excluded), comps, and room (i.e. Paradise Tower), I would take Trop over many others (in general, I try to avoid Harrash properties in general), however, for your needs, Harrahs or the Imperial Palace are your best bets.

Thanks for all the replies guys... we stayed at Harrahs and def. had no complaints. I don't even think i saw the trop to be honest. Although it did suck being stuck 2k before even checking in! No worries, unstuck in no time after some sleep. I heart donkaments
