So what? A hippo is a hundred times as mobil as a walrus and has much greater offensive weapons. The only way the polar bear could kill a hippo would be to attack it's neck. If if tried that it would have to deal with that huge mouth full of huge teeth. The hippo would also be able to charge. The polar bear would end up getting crushed.

Personally, I think there's a lot to be said for the bear's striking power. Grizzlies have been known to kill large animals with a single strike, and a polar bear is bigger and stronger than a grizzly. That being said, the hippo has a huge weight advantage so maybe it can take a few bear blows and still retaliate with those huge teeth.

Maybe the answer is, in striking, the bear wins, but if it goes to grappling the hippo takes him down. Typical fighting debate.
