It helps you put in those long sessions, doesn't change your game at all, can keep you off tilt if you're feeling stressed but you're not as alert.

I find it's easier to make tougher folds also.

....basically, on a day to day basis I lose somewhere between 1-2 buy ins due to mistakes, when I play ripped I'll lose maybe a third of that.

Forgive me for being captain obvious, but isn't memory one of the most important skills required to be a good poker player?

And isn't memory, especially the short term memory you are using in a poker game, impaired by smoking pot?

As a long time pot smoker I find this thread bizarre as I'm currently trying to quit pot to improve my game...

Count me firmly in the "nay" camp. Pot destroys your short-term memory, and there is way too much going on at a poker table to slip into the green haze. ESPECIALLY live.

Egads.

a lot of my friends do the same thing. i personally can't do it for my own reasons. but here's what i've noticed:

my friends that have been smokin for a long time have no problem making judgements while they play poker. but friends that do it once in awhile can get a little carried away.

i guess it's dependent on you and the amount that you take in.
