differences between .5/1 and 1/2

So, after about 8k hands at .5/1 with about a 3.3BB/100 winner, I decide to give 1/2 a shot to clear some bonuses quicker. I finish 1 prima bonus at 1/2 and have a decent session. I then decide to move on to absolute. Wow. I'm getting killed here and I'm wondering if this is a bigger jump than what I expected, if it's the players at absolute, or what...

So on to my question - What are the differences between these levels, and is it a big jump, etc? FWIW, I'm currently losing 4.5BB/100 over a miniscule 1k hands. I know it's too early to tell, and I have the BR for it, I'm just being a little girl about it.

Honestly I think it has as much to do with moving to absolute as it does moving from .50/1 to 1/2. The 1/2 full ring games at absolute have a reputation for being very tough.

good to know...maybe I'll grind out about 10 million hands at .5/1 to clear my $300 bonus then. Are they exceptionally tough as well?

If we're talking about full 10 handed ring games, then IMO, .5/1 is loose weak players. 1/2 is tighter weak players. I think the 1/2 game is harder than the 2/4 game. My bb/100 thinks so too.

If we're talking about 6-max, then the .5/1 is ridiculously easy, and the 1/2 is just kinda easy.

I don't think they're as bad...Absolute has a reputation for tough games anyway...and the 1/2 game seems to kinda be the sweet spot for grinding out their bonus (you need 100 raked hands with at least a .50 rake per $10 of bonus), so the 1/2 is the lowest limit where you can effectively grind out the bonus. As such, there's a lot of good players there grinding out bonuses. I'm not sure of the % of raked hands per 100 at absolute, but I'd think the bonus is covering a substantial part of your -4.5BB/100, so maybe play some more and see if it was variance. I mean, in the end they're 1/2 games, it's not like they're impossible.

As for me, I'm at the Party beginner's tables until for another 4 weeks, so my idea of a tough game atm is less than 5 to a flop for 2 hands in a row.
