And yet strangely, despite you all being absolutely convinced that your actions could have had no effect whatsoever, the promo did in fact get pulled.

And it's not coming back, all traces of it have disappeared from the website.

How can you be so absolutely positively certain that your actions had no effect whatsoever and that you were totally correct in blowing your loads all over a public forum about the potential of this?

I guess if you all have several years' experience of casino and their bonuses, and what gets them killed, then you probably have a right to feel that you acted correctly.

Except, er, you don't. You're poker players and you think EV=EV=EV. It doesn't. This EV is very sensitive, and has to be handled carefully in order not to kill it. But hey, you know so much about everything else in the world that it'd be ridiculous to listen to anyone else offering advice, right? Anyway, carry on - I'll be back to waste my breath next time it happens.

Why do you feel such a rush to dismiss well-reasoned advice? Because you feel the argument is not merited or because the poster doesn't have an established posting history?

The truth of the matter is that all of the people criticizing the actions of 2+2 posters know where they are coming from and what they are talking about, and the people who call the critics morons -- they don't.

Do we know for certain that Party pulled the promo because of the 10-page thread on 2+2? No we don't. But it is actually irrelevant. Even if they pulled it for other reasons, they played this hand correctly by accident. Because after the promo was plastered over all 2+2, it was no longer +EV for them.

Casino promos are not like poker bonuses. Poker sites actually make more money from a good player than from a bad player, so any promotional dollars spent on good players are usually +EV for a site. So post away all poker bonuses out there -- the sites will write you a thank you note.

The situation is quite different with the casinos. When a casino offers a promo, they will only make money from fish -- advantage gamblers become a serious drain for them. It's a necessary evil, because they need to run promos to attract fish, and the situation is usually well contained, with advantage gamblers pocketing a small slice of the pie, but if casinos are not careful, they will lose their shirts on promos.

When a good promo blows up all over 2+2, with very few exceptions, that promo is dead for the casino -- they will lose money on it. Do you think Mansion made money from their free bet promo? Do you think Party's promo would've been +EV for them with hundreds of 2+2ers with $30k bankrolls playing 3 tables of max bets for an hour? I contend that this promo would be clearly +EV for Party if it was not posted on 2+2 and that it is clearly -EV for them after it was posted.

So the end effect is that, no matter the reason for Party pulling the promo, Party lost, a bunch of gamblers like me who planned to play it but would've been smart enough to keep quiet about it lost, and the fish kept their money.

To believe we had 0 percent to do with the promo being killed is just being naive(sp?). If you think a company with over a 10B market cap doesn't have at least 1 person trained to lurk the top message boards then you are much dumber than you think. I have seen PP reps post on these boards.
My guess is the standard BJ player gives somewhere around a 2-2.5 edge to the house due to bad play, that was the number PP was predicting this promo from. They felt, at worse, they would have a break-even hour for 3 days.

Now, the possibility that a rep reads this board and searches for anything including blackjack and party and gets this thread. He hands the information off to a decision maker and he makes the call to pull it because now it looks like a losing situation.

My possible EV lost, this week, due to 2+2 not having private casino forum: -$6,000

No worries, although making a dollar directly off of PP is 10x sweeter than making a dollar any other way.

I don't think anyone is saying party doesn't read 2+2. Just that you have to be very naive to think they didn't realize 2+2 would be all over this promo to begin with.

Do you *really* think this is the only forum in the Universe? The only msg board dedicated to talking about +EV casino bonuses? How many other sites do you think we're talking about this promo this week? 10? 100? More?

Do you also think PartyGamingPLC, a worldwide and publicly traded firm with market cap ~ $8bn has it's actions determined by a few dozen posters on THIS particular thread? That you know more about marketing +EV bonuses than they do?

That Party only looks at posts on this thread and not the literally, hundreds of other msg boards and blogs and sites and etc that discuss this stuff on a daily basis?
