I think posting a link to the bonus is fine so everyone can know about it, but talking about specific EV implications could easily lead to someone reading it here, panicking, and cancelling the bonus. It's obvious that most top poker sites read this message board.

They knew that it made it +EV, but they probably didn't realize that this information would spread to the point that dozens of kids were willing to bet the max getting over 2k in EV per hour. They might have assumed most of the people who were willing to try to get value out of this would do it on a much smaller scale, i.e $20 bets or so.

Now, I'm not saying this is definitely true, but I think it's a valid theory and something that should be taken into account in the future.

They have years and years of data at their disposal that tells them exactly how people react to bonuses.

They know how many people bonus whored their various sign-up bonuses, how many bonus whored reload bonuses, how many have gone for account-specific bonuses, how many whored just one skin and how many whored them all, etc etc etc. They know about 2+2 and how it affects bonus takeup rates. They know about bonuswhores.com or whatever and how THAT affects takeup rates.

Hell, they even know how many people will take up a bonus if a recording of Mike Sexton calls them on the phone once an hour on the hour until they pick up, and tells them they have the greatest bonus evar!!! waiting in their email.

All of this data is not the same as this type of bonus, something that's never (or not in a while) been done, so it's possible that they were incorrect in their estimations.

sentiments like this are stupid. party isn't setting up a promo like this with the intention of only a few people doing it. if that was the case it would be account specific. for whatever reason, they think it's a good idea and that they will make money off it in the long run. it wasn't exactly a secret, it was on their website. post away.
