Smoking anything in a dorm is a good way to get yourself kicked out.

FWIW, at the University of Maryland, we set off a smoke detector my freshman year taking bong rips in a dorm room. We managed to GTFO and nothing ever came of it, but it was scary as hell for a while because if we had been caught we would've lost our housing permanantly. Be careful.

Another option: dryer sheets stuffed into a paper towel tube. Exhale through the tube, much of the smoke will be absorbed by the material inside it. This method works for weed as well (or so I'm told.)

Wow my school is lax. My RA stumbled into the room during a 4 man session with a 1/2 oz on the floor. He just told us to scatter and pretended he didn't see the bag. We were given 3 warnings before anything serious happened for other things such as drinking as well.

Why would you want to smoke in your dorm? Go outside, wonderful way to meet people.

Smoking cigarettes is kind of bad because there is a ton of smoke. Smoking other things is not really that bad because there isn't as much smoke, and most smoke detectors don't go off from "other" smokes. What I would do just to be extra safe is cover the detector with a piece of cloth and/or a plastic bag, and blow the smoke into a sploof or out the window.

I met alot of people my frosh year by going outside and smoking. However, if you dont feel like it or it's too cold I'd recommend smoking in the bathroom and turning the shower on. Normally, after a spray or two of febreeze you're good to go.

you can rubber band a bag around the smoke detector.

that works well.
