Re: Olivert -- Any word on recent ratings for TV poker shows?
[ QUOTE ]
TV poker viewers around the world will identify with their own. Americans identify with Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, and Annie Duke among others. Canadians identify with Daniel Negreanu, Gavin Smith, James "KrazyKanuck" Worth, and "Yukon" Brad Booth, among others. The British identify with The Hendon Mob, Lucy Rokach, Dave and Rowena Cloclough, Teddy Sheringham (who still plays EPL soccer at West Ham United at the age of 40) among others. The French identify with Patrick Bruel and Isabelle Mercier. Eventually, the Chinese will identify with Johnny Chan, Joanne J.J. Liu, John Juanda, Jennifer Tilly (if she ever starts marketing herself as Chinese), Doug Lee, Evelyn Ng, etc. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. All I can tell you is that I am American (US type American), and I couldn't care less what someone's nationality is when I am watching poker. Who couldn't like Chau Gang (sic) rubbing his nipples and saying, "me love pokah." Marcel Luske is a class act no matter his nationality. As for the Canadians, who knew? And, are you telling me that non-Americans won't be able to relate to Doyle, Ivy et al? NCAces |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] (US type American) [/ QUOTE ] ??? Do you mean European-American? [/ QUOTE ] OlverT used the word "American" to mean a resident of the United States of America. There are those in Canada (who are North Americans) and South America who take offense to the term American being used synonomously with the USA. In my own inelegant way, I was trying to say I was a resident of the USA. Not one who is normally politically correct, my effort here appears not to have been clear. NCAces |
