So someone explain how not to double up a bigger overpair here...
Six max, Pokerstars 100NL. I have Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the BB. Villain has $81, and opens UTG to $5. I cover. Fold to me and I call.
Flop ($10): 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check and villain bets $12. What's your plan here? Assuming overcards to your queens don't come, do you ever avoid doublig up AA or KK? Do you tend to lead the flop? |

i think i'm check raising that flop and folding to a three bet all in. If he flat calls. I'm betting that non over turn. Course, I'm also reraising automatically pre-flop.

I lead the flop there. See what happens from there.

I lead the flop there. See what happens from there. [/ QUOTE ] Leading the flop doesn't seem to get us anywhere good. Most of the time our opponent will fold a worse hand (that he would have bet had we checked to him) and call/raise with a better hand. Leading lets our opponent play close to perfectly. At least check-raising and folding to a 3-bet allows our opponent to put money into the pot with a worse hand. |

I pretty much always reraise preflop here.

Re: So someone explain how not to double up a bigger overpair here...
(I only play full ring.) What are you guys doing against smarter players that understands you will just fold to the reraise? I flat call this a lot when check raised with AA or KK. The hand really doesn't have to be decided on the flop IMHO. They push that turn with QQ or JJ and its a very easy stack. You still never really accomplished anything here.
(remember, you think he has AA or KK.) If you check call and then check the turn I think you'll have more success in finding out where you're sitting here. Most players will bet AA KK and AK the same on that flop. Its on the turn where you might find a little more clarity in the betting patterns. |
