6-12 Bay Area B&M- check or bet 2nd nut flush with 4 flush on the brd
9-handed 6-12 Friday night at a Bay Area B&M. Table is pretty loose with an average of 6 to a flop. Main opponent is an older woman who is loose and passive, your basic calling station, but she will bet or raise the nuts.
2 limp, I limp with QdTd, 2 more limp, and both blinds call. Flop Ad, 7d, 4d. Check, check, bet, fold, I call, fold, call, call, call. Turn Kx Check, check, check, I bet, call, fold, fold, fold River 2d Check, bet, or check with intention to check raise? 1. preflop- I think standard for a loose passive table. 2. flop-with so many behind me I just called expecting over callers and hoping for someone to raise behind me. 3. turn-not much to do other than bet. 4. river- check or bet with 2nd nut flush, but 4 diamonds out? |

check with intention to check raise? [/ QUOTE ] This is the worst thing you can possibly do. You basically never want to be the one making it 2 bets on the river with the 2nd nut 1card flush because a better hand obviously reraises and anything else is going to have a hard time calling. |

Thanks for the comments. In reality I checked, opponent checked showing JdXx, and MHIG.

Re: 6-12 Bay Area B&M- check or bet 2nd nut flush with 4 flush on the brd
i'm pretty surprised that people want to bet-call here. This is a textbook bet-fold situation. Just think about what you said. She's loose-passive, but will bet or raise with the nuts. This means that she'll check behind with everything except for the Ad. but she'll call with any diamond, most likely, and maybe even some hands as bad as top pair.
So, what it comes down to is how confident you are with your read. If you're pretty confident, then betting and folding to a raise is the only possible play. If you think she's capable of making some moves, which it sounds like is extremely unlikely, then your best play is to bet and call a raise. In fact, if you did bet and she raised, i might even try to get her to tell you if she has it by saying something like "I guess you got it, huh" as if you're about to fold. If that doesn't work and you're really unsure, just pay her off and you'll watch your chips pushed her way 99% of the time. But overall bet-fold is the only play here. you have to get that extra bet when she has a diamond. |

Bet and fold, especially when you bet and see she's called you with the Jd :-p

You have to bet the river. And I think you'll have to call the raise getting 11:1. Even passive opponents make moves sometimes.
