Default \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (9/15) (10-20 NL)

Tonight's show will be the standard 10-20 NL, 1k min no max buyin game. Jeremy, the kid who played 4 hands and won about 5k, turns out to be 2+2er PGarlic, will be back in the game tonight to try and win some more money as this eventful (at moments) week comes to an end. As always, the action starts shortly after 10pm ET over at www.liveatthebike.com

Hey Bart,

Do you like to use the "4-color deck" when you play online?
Why is it never used in live games?

When I play live or watch poker on TV or on LATB, it's easy to mistake clubs for spades.
and it seems like having blue diamonds and green clubs would only be a good thing.

Are there people (other than Mason Malmuth) who would actually be AGAINST the 4-color deck?

Mason Malmuth wrote in "Poker Essays: Vol 2" that flashed cards would be easier to spot, because there would be no doubt exactly which suit it was. He also went on to say that using the 4-color deck could allow frontloaders to more easily see their opponents cards as they're being dealt if the dealer is sloppy.

He wrote the essay in 1995. And referred to the 4-color deck as having "had it's run". So apparently cardrooms did use the 4-color deck for a while then quit. Did the Bike ever use the 4-color deck?

Thanks

A "cooler" is the same thing as a cold deck - a deck that's been set up to give a victim a big, but second best hand. It's called a "cold deck" because it has not been warmed up from people handling it.

Be very careful about saying you were given a cooler to someone who's been playing more than a couple of years.

The most common type of color blindness is the red/green kind. It mostly affects males, almost 10% of the population.
