Called Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's office today

I told the gentleman who answered the phone that I am opposed to a ban on online poker. He said he would pass along my views to Kay and that she does not have a firm opinion yet and is waiting to hear what her constituents think on the issue.

What was cool is that he said I had supporters right there in the office and he understood how prevalent online poker is.

Way to go. Our best bet is to talk to senators who could go either way. Trying to persuade proponents of the bill is a waste of time.

Thanks for the number. Just called and left a message with a real person. I said I wanted her to vote against the Internet Gambling Prohibition act and specifically the online poker part.

She's a republican. Can't hurt to call her though.

Also, while you're at it, tell her you'd like her to pressure Bush to get off his ass and capture Bin Laden.

I called her office on Tuesday during the Phone March and spoke to an aide the same thing and she said similar that Senator Hutchinson hasn't formed an opinion yet.

This is definitely a Senator's office that needs to be called and called again, I'll probably call once a week til the end of the year. I know first hand since my Dad is the election judge for the Republican party in Collin County that Senator Hutchinson is pretty tightly tied with the Conservative (Christian) right who DO NOT want to see internet gambling survive, so it will take alot of pressure directly to her office to get her to see our point of view.

It's a fight worth fighting though

Definitely call if you are in Texas. This might seem like a lopsided republican issue in favor for the bill, but I really think it could be up in the air for her, if that is what they are saying. "Some" republicans are still open to some libertarian points of view.

I got an ambigous letter back from her. I seriously doubt the up in the air has any merrit to it.
