I wouldn't really call it miniscule. Here are currently covered markets. Keep in mind that this is usually all the surrounding areas, not just the city thats listed. For example, for NC it lists Raleigh/Durham but that also includes Cary/Apex/Chapel Hill/Burlington/etc.

Yeah, I looked at the cities and Nashville wasn't listed.
And I looked at the map and it didn't appear to be 'grey' for the National-Access coverage.


This was almost exactly 1 year ago that I signed-up for the plan so my memory could be fuzzy. Maybe he said that Nashville was getting it soon...or maybe he said Knoxville and I misunderstood him.
Very strange because I could have sworn he said Nashville.


Also, I'm pretty surprised they don't have it in Nashville which is a fairly decent-sized market.


For me, Verizon-Broadband works awesomely.

Everytime I travel I don't have to worry about getting a hotel with wireless.
And I don't have to pay any fee if I'm delayed at an airport. lots of airports are charging for wireless now.

Also, I'm going to be moving a lot in the near future living for a few months at a time in one city after another and taking advantage of the flexibility that I get via an online-poker 'career'.
I won't have to set up a new cable connection every time we move.


It has mucho advantages.


I have had a few more disconnects than I'm comfortable with the past few days though. Including one the other night where I got knocked off the table in a pretty big pot although it's sometimes hard to tell whether it's a Verizon outage or whether the poker-site knocked me off.

I just want to add that I use the national access service and am thrilled with it. I have had it for about a month and it has worked everywhere I tried it. (Northern New Jersey, Weschester NY area) Definitely worth the $60 a month.

Just thought I would add a little tip. You can enable Dial-Up Networking on some verizon phones (they disable it because they want you to use the cards). On my Motorola E815 I enabled DUN on it, and use it as a modem for my laptop via bluetooth! I subscribe to V-cast which gives you unlimited bandwidth to watch the stupid videos.

Note: verizon does not like this, and probably could charge you if you use too much bandwidth. If you are using it regularly to play poker you should just get the package. But it's greatif you just need access every now and then.

The reviews are great and I use my laptop a lot when traveling, but I'd like to be able to use my desktop while at home.

I was looking into this myself and I found a router that will do the job. Look for the Kyocera KR-1 router. You slide the wireless card into the router, and it creates a local network just like any other router. It can be a wireless or wired network (or both I guess). Pretty handy.

The router costs around $250-$300 IIRC. Not cheap, but if you're paying $60-$80 a month for the broadband service, it's not a huge additional expense to be able to share the connection.

Can you elaborate a bit on the Full Tilt comment? Recently I traveled from Omaha, NE to Columbus, NE and on the way there I tried playing Full Tilt, but it worked very poorly. When I finally go to Columbus and was stationary, it worked ok. Are you implying that other sites will work much better than Full Tilt? I hope this is the case as I'm ready to give the card up if it doesnt start working better.
