How badly did I play this?
I m not posting this as a BBV -- I am truly just baffled and want to know how I misplayed this.
This is just before the 2nd break in the midnight $8K guarantee at FT -- about 80 players left and I am in the top 20 or so... Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t200/t400 (Ante: t50) 9 players Converter Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP3 with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 folds, Hero raises to t1200, CO folds, Button calls t1200 (pot was t2250), 2 folds. Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t3450, 2 players) Hero checks, Button bets t1600, Hero raises to t4000, Button calls t2400 (pot was t9050). Turn: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t11450, 2 players) Hero bets t5325, Button calls all-in t5325. River: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t22100, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t22100) Results: Final pot: t22100 Villian called me with KK (I know -- don't post results, but this is what I want feedback on...) Did I not play the hand as if I had an ace? Is the c/r on the flop a donk move or the right play? Should I just push here? On the turn do I just try to go check / check? Is my putting him AI on the turn what gave it away (to him) that I didn't have an ace... I guess after the call on the flop I should put him on ace-small and try to check and get a free club? Thoughts? |

Re: How badly did I play this?
stack sizes?...
Check-call the flop. C/r is, like, NEVER an Ace. Betting the flop is a BETTER representation of an Ace than a check-raise. And if you ARE check-raising - with your stack you should be check-pushing. Maximize your FE, because you won't have ANY on the turn. Turn - you should not be here with chips still. If you are - push is the only option, you hopefully) have 12 outs (Clubs and T's...) |

Hero: 13,595 Villian: 10,575 Ok -- I think that you are right on the c/r AI versus just raising... If he calls, fine, otherwise if a club DOES fall on the turn I'm not getting paid off, right? Any other thoughts on this??? Anyone just check-fold? |

Re: How badly did I play this?
Tex reread mornelth's reply you're missing his #1 point
leading this flop does a better job of representing an Ace than check raising. I think if you had lead this pot than pushed the turn he would have folded. |

Tex reread mornelth's reply you're missing his #1 point [/ QUOTE ] Actually, his #1 point is that if you DO decide to check-raise, make it a push. Anything less makes no sense. |

Any other thoughts on this??? Anyone just check-fold? [/ QUOTE ] Depending on my opponent, and/or how pissed my girlfriend is at me, I'll checkfold this 1/2 the time, checkpush this half the time, and bet out 3/4 pot on the flop the other half of the time. My math is good like my poker... |
