Villain flopped a set of 6s and I lose. Thanks for all the replies.

In retrospect I think a check/call on the river is in order. The villain was extremely aggressive but definitely not a maniac. I totally agree that my bet/3 bet on the turn is an inflection point where the strength of my hand is pronounced yet the villain caps it on the turn despite this.
