Whenever I am heads up with someone who starts off with about half the max buy-in or less and I flop a decent hand like top pair/good kicker, I try to stack my opponent. This often results in me betting my opponnent's stack on the river when I wouldn't necessarily bet at all. This hand provides a good example:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) BB ($90.35) UTG ($219.85) MP ($207.85) Hero ($198.80) Button ($60.80) SB ($296.90) Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds, Hero raises to $8, 2 folds, BB calls $6. Turn: ($41) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $28, BB calls $28. River: ($97) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $44, BB calls $42.35 (All-In). Final Pot: $183.35 Only had a few orbits with the guy but he seemed loose/passive. I play under the assumption that most people who play short will make somewhat desperate calls with hands that range from top pair any kicker, middle pair, to sometimes even some trashy pocket pairs. Es bueno, no? |
