This seems pretty bad. Although it's hard to put him on an ace plenty of people just call AK preflop. Very few people double-barrel bluff for half the pot. Other possibilities are A8, any set, A3.

This is pretty terrible, but I'm sure you expected everyone to say that.

I used to make a lot of calls like these. I was usually on tilt and they dont end up good often enough.

Yeah.

Do you guys like the turn call, then? And then fold river? What if the river was a 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ?

I think I would have check-folded on the turn. There's just way too many hands that have me beat here.

i mean maybe call the turn if he's a doofus (ie- capeable of having the 8). but, easy river fold.

Well that river card is the worst card ever. I don't hate your turn call but without a read I think turn and river are pretty easy folds.

I've been usually just check-folding on turn in these types of spots w/out a read that i'm being floated. But if you call on the turn, are you also calling a blank river? If not, then why call on the turn? If yes, the hand is becoming very expensive and you're basically just trying to catch a bluff in a spot that won't be a bluff nearly often enough.
