"no skill" jobs in vegas?

Hello All,
First, I'm posting this question here because at least some of you live in Vegas, and I didn't see anywhere more appropriate to ask.

I'd like to live in Vegas for a short time (6 months-year).
Mostly for poker, and just the experience of living someplace except Ohio.

And, I have no specific job skills. No degree,etc.

So, my 2 questions are:
1.Where are the best places (least torturous) places to work in Vegas? ie. If you know what you know now, and you were dropped off in Vegas, where would you work.

2.Where would you live on your meager income?
The criteria is that it has to be safe, and as close to the poker games as possible.
I'm pretty sure that low-rent apartments have been discussed before, but I didn't find anything.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this post.
Please take my questions seriously though.
I'd really like to know if Vegas is an option for me.
