Has anyone seen the "Heartland Poker Tour?" My local casino is sponsoring satellites into this thing. I happened to catch it on a local TV station last night. The final table was not televised until it was down to 3. they want $1200 for the entry. Satellites have been running 3 days a week, twice per day at $100. It would be fun to have a tape of myself playing a final table, but this thing was cheesy at best.
I'm curious about two things ( if anyone has actually seen this thing ). First, do they always feature only the last 3 players at their final table? Second, is the competition ever any good? The table I saw was ridicules. |

I caught it on my local cable a couple of times... I don't know how many people were at the table but it wasn't anyone recognizable. Sounds like a tour that Kenna James would be on...

I've seen it a few times. I always saw like 5-6 at the final table. Its a smaller buyin event. Thats how they want to keep it.

Yes but its not aired at decent times or on a good station. It is playe at podunk no name casinos like Grand Casino Hinkley and Turtle Lake Wisconsin.
The final table features midwest degenerates Playing for the awesome first place money of 60k or something silly. Youll have 2 kids, 1 lucky widow who don't know how to play, an old guy, and a mid life crisis "i think I'm a pro your calling me with that" not good enough for vegas player. The play ranges from ridiculous to ok but the production is lame and quiet. If you enjoy ESPNs coverage or the WPT you'll be disapointed. However if you want to make a final table this would likely be a good chance barring you getting cold decked. I won the only tournament (200$ buy in limit 93 entries) I ever played here at Cantebury Park in Shakopee and I am King of the Donks so if you are even semi decent you'll have a chance to go deep in a heartland poker tourney. |
