Should be a dual display option in your Nvidia driver control panel.
Did you try checking the "Extend my desktop onto this monitor" box in the windows display settings? |

As just a curious, offtopic question, why did you get AMD and not Core2Duo?
Did you use the NVidia control panel for dual desktop monitors? I found that worked better than the windows control (but I only have a 7600gt on my computer |

[/ QUOTE ] I've tried both, neither work, the nvidia control panel doesn't even recgonise the possibility for extension and thus, doesnt list the options, but it gives me the option of using my 2nd monitor as primary display!?!? (I've tried this, 1st screen goes blank, 2nd screen takes its place). I'm starting to think my problem is either that XP x64 is incompatible with this card for desktop extension, or I need some exotic drivers. Annoying. |

[/ QUOTE ] I didn't go for an Intel system because I wanted someone to build it for me this time around and for the price range I was aiming at it seemed AMD's were my best option. Possibly not an optimal purchase, but it looked good at the time and I couldn't be arsed to do lots of research into best specs. |

MAke sure you have the correct drivers for Windows 64 bit. Nvidia's site is really easy to use usually. They should be on there. I'm thinking the general driver is not allowing you to expand in the 64 bit version of Windows. My work systems run 64 bit editions and I have problems like this all the time until I get the right drivers.
Are you runnin this driver version? http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_91.47.html |

Re: Nvidia GeForce 7950GX2, dual display not working... WTF
Well this was annoying to solve but luckily I stumbled upon the solution.
It seems both win XP pro and win XP pro x64 have the same problem with this card, the only solution I've found is here: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_do...bit_91.31.html Beta drivers are the only solution to this problem. |
