ok dousche bags, i offer an opinion and you just want to talk shiiiiit. hey nath, you ever seen them live? If not, then keep your mouth shut about something you know nothing about. They jam out when playing live and will play songs for 20-25 minutes...thats not a jam band? Having 3-4 Saxophone players with the best drummer ive ever heard and a violin player..nah, thats no jamming...keep your mouth shut if you're ignorant to the subject a s s hole

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say they didn't jam, just that they suck at it. I've seen plenty of good jam bands, not that jam bands are even something I particularly care for.

It's okay, I'd be overly defensive too if I just realized how ignorant I was about music. If they have the best drummer you've ever heard, you really need to get out more.

If we ever meet in person, I promise you I will say "Oh, you're the guy that thought Dave Matthews Band was "definately" the best band of the last 15 years!" and laugh.

i listen to a lot of music man, im tellin you..just see them live and you will change your view. I know plenty of musicians and they tend to agree hes probably the best out there. Maybe im just a bit biased because going to his concerts are a ritual with me and my brothers and we have a kickass time doing so. In your opinion who is the best drummer?

VV, have you ever heard a band other than DMB? It will change your point of view.

This does not speak well for your musician friends. My anecdote is that a composition major I knew in college, at one of the better music schools in the country, who had a rock band that WAS pretty awesome, called Dave Matthews Band "The worst band in existence" or something to that effect.

You think?

I'm not that well versed in drumming, but my first thought, as far as people working today goes, is Danny Ferry of Tool.

I can't even tell you if the DMB drummer is particularly good or bad because I've found the drumming in their music so unremarkable.

To get this thread going back in the right direction with some good punk rock/other genre songs...

Turn Those Clapping Hands Into Angry Balled Fists - Against Me!

The Gold Song - Bouncing Souls

Gang Control - Leftover Crack

911 for Peace - Anti-Flag

The Decline - NOFX (The song itself is like 18 minutes long but it's hell good).
