Can someone explain why pushing quads here is a good play? Given the pot size on the turn wouldn't two psb get it all in? It would be tough to lay down AK to two psb...atleast for me but I am a donk.

Do we ever get results? Did he have quads or not? Inquiring minds want to know.

Because making psb's on the turn and river you have a better chance of stacking your opponent than pushing.

If villain will call a pot sized turn bet, he will also call a turn push or a river overbet.

It's still hard to see why using the two rounds you have to get the money in wouldn't be preferable.

That said, just because Villain seems astute doesn't mean he plays all situations optimally. I think it's entirely likely that he plays well enough to realize that big bets might get called, but not quite well enough to realize why pushing isn't optimal. 88 would not surprise me.

Still, as a one-off occurrence I call. (If we play millions of hands together and he does this several times and shows down quads a good portion of the time, then I start thinking about the right ratio of folds.)

I agree that he might have quads here I am just wondering why some people have said pushing quads is a good play in this situation. The fact that this thread as raised so much debate as whether or not this is a call leads me to believe that pushing 88 is not the right play here.

I think what's basic is that even if he has 88 often enough for calling to be very slightly -ev, calling is still automatic because folding is overwhelmingly exploitable.
