Low limits and Zee\'s 8/b book
I'm going through the book and I keep thinking "wow, half of this advice is pointless against low and micro limit players." I'm doing pretty well in these games .25/.50 to 1/2, but it's impossible to convince a 5-8-3 board when I have (5 A) A 2 4 that I'm ahead with my low draw and a hitchkiker with a pair of 9s in the hole catching second pair while I brick the last two streets.
Should I just shelve the book until I hit higher limits and just keep playing my straightfoward, 3 BB/100 play? |

Re: Low limits and Zee\'s 8/b book
No book will teach you how to catch cards. Rest assured that Zee's book is applicable at all limits that have an even semi-normal ante/bring-in/betting limit ratio.

Obviously you have to use your judgement about what opponents will play and how they will react to your actions; that's poker. But the concepts in the book are still spot on, and you will find times even at low limits to pull some of the advanced plays.

Yeah, you should DEF move up to higher stakes where your bets and raises will be respected!

Re: Low limits and Zee\'s 8/b book
Actually, have been looking at this book and find two pieces of advice in the section on loose games that I expect to help me a lot at very low limits where many are going in (and continuing) with garbage:
1. Play only the very best high hands and then be ready to fold if it develops badly; and 2. Play only the very best three card lows, i.e., 3 to a straight, 3 flushes, with an ace. |

Ack! Don't kill me.
I really don't care if my bets or raises are respected. That's the bets part. |

Re: Low limits and Zee\'s 8/b book
Well, pay particular attention to the advice that isn't "pointless." If you might ordinarily raise to knock a player out, but you know he isn't folding, don't raise for that reason.
AA542 is a large favorite against 99853, but it's hardly a lock. If you're earning 3 BB/100, you might give some consideration to moving up. |
