Re: Checking KK on A high flops
the reason checking oop is bad is you dont know if you are beaten on the flop. if you bet and get called you can be fairly sure that you are behind and can c/f turn. however, if you check theres too much second guessing, the average retard at ssnl will 3 barrel any ace and you cant possibly call down. even if he dosent have an ace he might try to "value" bet his jack , QQ or even worse and push you off.

Re: Checking KK on A high flops
thats why i said that this hand shouldnt be calling multiple streets with. if villan can 3-barrel bluff with air, good for him.

Re: Checking KK on A high flops
my usual play is to c-bet oop. In position i have a few options depending on what the player does, if he bets and he's playing pretty tight i usually have the instinct to fold or just call, but depending on the texture of the board i may re-raise just incase he is semi-bluffing. If he checks, I may bet or check, again depending upon the player and the texture of the flop.

Re: Checking KK on A high flops
When OOP, I like a feeler bet with KK on an ace high flop, unless the texture of the flop is just awful. Then it's pretty much c/c, c/f. Half to 2/3 pot on a non-textured flop should be sufficient to find out where you stand.
In position, I still like to fire sometimes (about 50%?), but will always check behind the turn if OOP check/calls. |

Re: Checking KK on A high flops
An example where checking probably cost me the pot.
BTW, I play this differently if not for the short stack. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Hero ($100.45) UTG ($85.37) MP ($13.95) CO ($49.25) Button ($65.25) SB ($55.10) Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. UTG calls $0.50, MP calls $0.50, 2 folds, SB (poster) completes, Hero raises to $3, UTG folds, MP calls $3, SB calls $3. Flop: ($11) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP checks. Turn: ($11) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP checks. River: ($11) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets $2, Hero calls $2, MP folds. Final Pot: $15 Results in white below: SB has 2c 2d (three of a kind, twos). Hero has Kd Kh (one pair, kings). Outcome: SB wins $15. |

Re: Checking KK on A high flops
Checking behind in position like this is also something I'll do with a weak ace if the board is pretty dry, for basically the same reasons. Controls pot, gets paid more by worse hands, etc. Good post, orange.
