Auburn,LSU,UGA, & UF are all better than UT still.

[/ QUOTE ]

based on what? UT has the highest quality win of the season so far. It's possible that some of those teams are better than the Vols, but you stating it like absolute fact is just stupid.

[/ QUOTE ]

How do they have the highest quality win? What is to say that Cal isn't an average team. The preseason polls are meaning less and you really won't know if it's a quailty win until later in the season.

Of course here in Tenness we consider it a successful year if we win only one game - Alabama.

As a Tennesseean, the Florida game has always been much bigger than the Alabama game for me.

It has to do with the fact that years ago the team used the Alabama game as a measuring stick. Beat Alabama and you had a good team because Alabama was always a solid team. As the rivalry developed the emotionial importance of the game increased to the fans. It is a Tennessee "thing". You might compare it to the Fl/Ga game. Both good teams but like all teams they seemed to always find a way to loose to a Spurrior coached team. When they win it seems to make thier season.

Speaking of "The O'l Ball Coach" what are your feelings about him leaving to the NFL the way he did and when he did. Just days before he quit I posted on a Fl board that it would be a good time for SS to step down as I felt that he was loosing the respect of the players and was not on his A+ game. I of course was flamed for days till he did quit. I suspect that he would have had a down year or two and the fans may have "become very concerned". SS is a talented coach on the college level and it looks like he is going to be able to take another simi-productive team and make them winners.

I am thinking that the Fl/Tn game will tell us a lot about the SEC race and maybe the nationial race.

I think its safe to say that Cal will end the season with a better team than Western Kentucky, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Louisiana Lafayette, Memphis, and most likely Wasington State.

No need to go changing the subject and start going on about Texas. lol

I am just glad that the SEC is around because we get to see quality football. Can you imagine UT, Fl, Alburn, LSU, Georgia, reluctantly Alabama, and mighty Vanderbilt playing in one of those sissy confrences out west or up north? One of them would win it all every year. : )

So true.

Maybe this will be the year the SEC doesn't beat itself out of NC competition, and doesn't simultaneously get screwed by the polls.

I think there's a very good chance WV plays in the NC with everyone (inclding me) griping about the fact that they don't really deserve to be there. This could definately be another year of 1-loss teams competing for the NC, and WV sitting there with a spotless (though meaningless) record.
