Re: 20-13 = 6???
ok my turn...
When I was in high school, I hiked the Appalachian Trail in PA with some friends. We arrived in some non-descript backwoods central PA town, and walked into the one store to get some food. They were offering an unprecedented 3 hot dogs for 99 cents deal (99 cents was clearly advertised). Sales tax in PA is 6%. So I give the woman $1.05. She says, "It's $1.06" I say, "6% on 99 cents, is $1.05" She says, "But sales tax is 6 cents to the dollar." I say, "Right, but the cost is 99 cents so the total is $1.05" This goes on for a while as she does not understand the concept. She finally begrudgingly accepts my money even though she disagrees. Ehh, what do you expect from central PA.. |

[ QUOTE ]
I went to get my haircut today at the mall, and there was a special today, $11.00, so I told the lady make it $13.00. So she gave me $6.00 back, and I told the lady, I need another dollar, and she said, 20 - 13 is 6, so I said no it is not, so she took out a calculator and had to check, and found out I was right. I left the mall very depressed. [/ QUOTE ] Haven't read a single other post, because there's only one reasonable response to be made here, in this forum: You were "depressed" that the girl at the haircuttery at the mall couldn't do simple math? I am "depressed" by your expectations. |

You need to pressure the ball more when you have the extra man. I would suggest the full court zone press 3-2-1

she was prob thinking you wouldn't notice and was trying to rip you off. Nobody is that stupid, she was just trying to cover up her fraud by using the calc. [/ QUOTE ] Yup. Time to take her to court. |

I was recently told that 20.0047 rounds to 20.01 because 20.0047 rounds to 20.005 which rounds to 20.01.

[ QUOTE ] thanks for proceeding to ruin 30 seconds of our life like the lady ruined 30 seconds of yours. [censored]. [/ QUOTE ]I was recently asked why I haven't been posting much in OOT lately. This is pretty much it. Hey, [censored], it was a mildly entertaining story. Not every thread can be "genious", most are just good observations. STFU. [/ QUOTE ] Uh oh, someone's going to get slapped. |

Re: 20-13 = 6???
About a month ago I was going through the drive-in window at Burger King and my total was $x.65. I gave the guy $x+1 and I think the register wasn't working so he had to manually figure out the change.
I sat at the window for what seemed like forever while he thought about it, picked up a calculator and punched it in, stared at the cash drawer, repunched it into the calculator, picked up some change (which definately included a quarter), counted that, put it back, used the calculator again, stared at the change drawer some more, and finally gave me 3 dimes and a nickle. |
