Default HSP prop betting, should it be banned?

Gabe mentioned he thought the producers would have to do something about the prop betting on the show, as it is taking away from the game. What do you guys think?

For the viewers it adds nothing to the show and recently the players have been talking about it so much that it actually takes away from the show. For that reason it should be gotten rid of. The problem is, if the players want to do it, I don't see them agreeing not to do it just because the producers ask them.

Maybe the producers show use it with the show and keep track of it and show the win rates on them. Maybe show the props and explain them.

You forgot to add this option:

Keep the prop bets but explain to the audience what they are.

Since the whole point of the show is to let low stakes schmucks like myself see what a game is like with the best players in the game, it seems stupid to force them to change what they normally do at the table.

Not true. They don't give them a choice of what games to spread, despite it being thier money. I guaranatee you that if the players had it thier way it would be a mixed game format.

I think explaining the props is a good solution. No reason to take them out.

The problem with this is (if DN's blog about prop bets is anything to go by) that they are way too complicated to be summarized quickly. If they ever try to explain them properly it will take almost half a show.

There's a good reason they need to constantly check that sheet of paper, it's because it's virtually impossible to keep track of everyone's prop even for these guys (who are experienced with this and have great memories).

I've heard in an interview with GSN's producer that they think Omaha (let alone stud) would clutter up the screen too much. Can you imagine what thay would think of trying to display each player's prop?

The best I could expect them to do is give a brief summary once about what prop bets are generally like so at least we know what they're talking about when they say they hit their prop or are on doubles or triples against someone. But that still wouldn't help us follow them.
