Indy,

People (including me) don't mind flipping coins for money because in the long run it's exactly even in terms of EV. Additionally, the excitement involved in flipping a coin for $1000 or whatever makes it +EV for everyone involved. Obviously bonafone or FJ isn't going to flip a coin for an amount of money that would bust him, which is why there was a stop-loss of 12k agreed to so that a situation wouldn't arise were they were flipping for an uncomfortable amount. While $12k might seem like a lot, it won't come close to breaking either Bonafone or FJ.

In response to "not wanting to have baller friends" or whatever. What's the point of making all this money if you can't have fun with it? I enjoy hanging out with people like Bonafone, deuce2high, FJ, etc. way more than my non-poker playing friends because they understand how to have fun with their money and aren't total nits. Flipping a coin to decide who pays for dinner is another great example. In the end it all evens out so why not have more fun with it than everyone putting in their share? Try it I assure you you'll have a blast.
