Moving up...I really should have known better!
So I decided to move up to 100NL today (not too high but I just started playing NL and I wanted to do it right). My first session was as good as can be expected (up half a buy-in). Here's a hand from my second session...
Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $39.60 UTG+1: $19.35 MP1: $93.65 Hero: $122.50 MP3: $74 CO: $110.60 Button: $77.50 SB: $124.85 BB: $54.05 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP2 with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $3.5</font>, MP3 folds, CO calls, 2 folds, <font color="#cc0000">BB raises to $6</font>, 2 folds, Hero calls, CO folds. Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($18, 2 players) BB checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $9</font>, <font color="#cc0000">BB raises to $18</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises all-in $116.5</font>, <font color="#cc0000">BB calls all-in $30.05</font>. Uncalled bets: $68.45 returned to Hero. Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($114.1, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $114.1) River: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($114.1, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $114.1) Results: Final pot: $114.1 Results in white below: <font color="white">Hero has Qc Tc (straight, ace high). BB has Ah Ad (full house, aces full of kings). BB wins $114.1.</font> GGggaaaaaHHHHH.....Now, I've lost bigger pots than this playing limit so it's not the end of the world, I suppose. But I think I'm entitled to feel a little irritated when I play my 8th hand at a new level pretty damned well, end up in a frickin dream situation on the flop and lose when I'm a 96-4 favorite when I get my money in.....I will probably respond to this thread, after pondering the virtual mathematical impossibility of me losing this hand, and become more enraged. Yay, welcome to 100NL, sucka. |

Re: Moving up...I really should have known better!
You should have folded the flop. All you had was the nut straight with no redraws to a flush, full house, 4 of a kind or straight flush.
If you actually sat down and did the math you'd see that you're a significant underdog to win this hand against a random hand. I openfold the flop 100% of the time. |

Why the rabbit cam? You pretty much know you're going to lose this one, don't waste your time thinking about it afterwards. As my mother always used to say, "fold it and forget it".
