Default Managing a collegiate sports team

I wanted to know if anyone has any experience in this area. I think I'm going to be a manager for our men's basketball team. I wanted to know the pros and cons. I got a job in our sports marketing department (Something I want to do as my career), but then I got offered to manage basketball (Something I've wanted to do for a long time). I don't know which one to choose, that's why I seek 2p2 help.

I was the manager of the women's volleyball team in high school. I would bet all the volleyball chicks in college are probably busto-ed though so it wouldnt be worth it.

I didnt really do to much, filled up the water bottles, kept score of the games + stats sometimes...easy job. Obviously managing a collegiate team is probably a little different but I still cant imagine it being that hard.

I think managing the basketball team may open more doors up in sports marketing than the sports marketing job...

Based on what? The marketing guys are pretty well connected, they work with pro teams as well. The thing about managing seems to be that it is a cool job and cool to be with the players but it is a lot of time to commit and I don't know if it will help me in the future.

This is so wrong. I know people who manage for ND, and they put in 4-5 hours a day. They'll have class, go set up for practice at 3, put everything away after, eat around 8-9, and then have to do all their school work after that. Different schools/sports may be different, but it's much different from high school.
