Re: Why Is the US so large?
Actually, I know what it is. ( Thank you for explaining it, though. That was very nice of you. ) The lengths democrats will go to, to try to make it look as though they did better in the last presidential election than they really did is hilarious. Have a great day!

Re: Why Is the US so large?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] We've got atheists and theocrats, capitalists and socialists, social fascists and libertarians, all living under the same roof, trying to force everyone to live the way they want to live. I can't possibly imagine how breaking down the dynasty into groups that cater to what the people (read: individuals with different preferences) want is a bad thing [/ QUOTE ] In an earlier day and age, this was usually referred to as "the marketplace of ideas." It was generally considered to be a very good thing. [/ QUOTE ] In a real marketplace, the fact that more people prefer Coke than Pepsi doesn't mean everyone is stuck with Coke for some number of years. |

Have a great day! [/ QUOTE ] Well, I suppose the converse of that is: "the lengths Republicans will go to demonstrate President Bush has some kind of widespread, popular mandate (despite the fact the election was very close) by distributing poorly designed, inane, and misleading maps of the 2004 election results by county with huge swaths of red all over the US followed by the captions 'Bush Country!' or 'My America!' is really hilarious. Have a great day!" |

Have a great day! [/ QUOTE ] Well, it's not like Bush won by a landslide. It was even closer in 2000 when the Dems won the popular vote. No matter who won, about one quarter of the eligible voters got the candidate they voted for, about one quarter got the candidate they didn't vote for, and about one half are stuck with some guy when they didn't go out to vote at all. |
