1010 facing a raise from big stack
Mid way through a party $30. blinds 100-200. Villain has been active but not out of line. He makes it 600 from utg+1. I have 1010 in MP+2 and 4k behind. What does me do?

Re: 1010 facing a raise from big stack
I just call here because of your awkward chip stack. If you have less (maybe <34k) its a push and if you have more (>55k) you can make a raise and then maybe fold to a push. If you make a raise here u might as well go all in but you will usually only get action from AK and JJ-AA and maybe AQ and you do terribly against that range.
So I call and look to figure it out after the flop. In a $30 a person usually adjusts there Cbet according to how strong they are and you should be able to read it decently well. |

Call. You'll have position on the original raiser after the flop. It's not so bad to have another caller either after you as they will probably call with paint (hopefully not a pair) and you can get paid off if you flop a T.

Re: 1010 facing a raise from big stack
So what do u do if u have a real deep stack with tens against an utg+1 raiser? Is calling for set value really the best way to play tens whith 30-60bb?

Re: 1010 facing a raise from big stack
i don't play exclusively for set value. My action depends on the future action and the board.
But if you raise and fold to a 4-bet, you're turning your hand into a bluff, especially against someone who will 4-bet AK and AQ here preflop (hint: everyone 4-bets AK here). |

Re: 1010 facing a raise from big stack
Everyone 4 bets AK in a $30 multi? I think a lot of ppl wont even make a reraise with AK in a $30 because "its a drawing hand". Also you arent really turning it into a complete bluff because there is a good chance a short stack might call with 77+. Also the utg+1 raiser might just call you with a variety of hands thinking u have aa or kk and then fold to a cbet if they miss flop.
