Default Rver 3-Bet

Villian is a 70/22 maniac in this hand. I've never seen him get this out of line before...then again, I'm 4 tabling and have likely missed some of his donkish plays.

How many of you raise his river pot? How many of you call this river 3-bet getting over 3:1 that he is overplaying his 5 or a smaller flush?

Um... after making his hand he *wouldn't* try to get value? That makes no sense.

The hand: insta-call. He plays so many hands that trying to figure him out here is pointless. WHO KNOWS what he's going to turn over. You're winning this hand the vast majority of the time.

He's getting pot sized value on w/ a jack hi flush on a paired board where a 3 bet makes you sick.

too bad the turn wasnt a 7c. i would make the call, but as scdavis posted, you should not have raised the river with the board paired like that. you have the 8th or 9th nuts on this board. since u have the 7c, 3c2c is the nuts, then quads, boats, higher flushes. as is, against a maniac, i would call.... but break my mouse as i see a boat.

I think calling has a valid argument b/c the villain sees the three flush and then leads for a potsized bet on the end. Seems to indicate a flush or full house.

The other option I think is to push. These type of players have a horrible time laying down the straight trips or a lower flush, but may not reraise these hands. As played getting 3:1 plus I curse and pay off, especially against a 70/22 type character.

Exactly.. I can't safely fold to a push, therefore I don't 3-bet

I truly believe that not raising this river vs this type of player is absolutely horrific.

Just because a board is paired, I'm never going to raise a non-nut hand? What about his actions pre 3-bet lead me to believe he has a boat?

I play highly agressively, about 31/21, and I get paid off a lot. That also means that people play back at me a lot. Now obviously he's not 3-betting the river with air, but I think he 3-bets the river with A5, K5, Q5, etc a substantial amount of the time.
