Default College for Sister

Hey guys,

I needed some advice. My sister is going to graduate in 2 years and she lives in the Philippines. She wants to go to school somewhere in the Massachusetts area.

The problem is, my parents don't have much money. By 2 years, I hope to be robusto enough that I'll be able to help her and I'm sure she'll be able to get grants to cover close to like 40% of the school.

What are some schools with good bang for the buck in that area.. IE not 40k =)

If my situation changes, then other schools are options. This is in the future too.. She has no clue what she wants to do but she's good at writing and somewhat creative.

Lay some options at me..

And let me put out a preemptive, no pics sorry.

pretty much anywhere you go, a public school is cheap for residents of the state. private schools and public schools for non-residents are expensive. different states have different residency rules. i know that in california, it takes a year to fulfill the residency requirements. i'm not sure if it's the same for massachusetts. why does she want to live in massachusetts?

btw, I actually go to school in MA (bentley) but I really regret that choice. Go to cali, flordia, arizona, texas...someplace much better than MA. Massachusetts is such a shithole. I go back to school on sunday for my senior year and I am not excited in the least. I [censored] hate that state...

btw, since you are going to ask 'why do you go there then!'

I am from the east coast(western mass) and I thought it would be cool to go back for school sinc eI like to ski and snowboard and my uncle and aunt went there...what a terrible idea. The first year was OK but it has been all downhill from there..

Please describe your sister's personality. Also, her relative level of intelligence (I'm serious). I know the schools in Boston pretty well, but I think more information is in line.

any top private school (Harvard/MIT/Wellesley/Tufts/BC/BU/Babson/Bentley/etc) is going to be very expensive.

I thijnk you're best bet is Umass. It's not great, but they have some good programs, and if she excels there she'll do just fine.

UMass can be solid... getting in-state is key

MCLA in North Adams is another public school that might be more up her alley

Williams is a great school but not cheap... but hey it gave us bison, right?
