Re: Interent Gambling Update: Leach and Frist in Cedar Rapids 8/31
It's too bad that some of the well-known pros like Raymer, Lederer, and Ferguson aren't showing up at things like this. They are the ones who would get the publicity, but I guess thay are too busy suing the WPT to worry about this little ol' online poker ban.

You want people there that will support your cause? EASY
Take $50,000 dollars call up every casino, card shop, bar, etc. etc. Say your holding a $50,000 freeroll and all people have to do is show up. EASY hell just bring cards and buttons people can be their own dealers and you can play on the grass. You get people there that play poker, and probably play online, and people will drive from 6 hours away to make it thinking "I'll bet nobody comes to this, and I can win a free 50k." YOUR SUPPOSED TO FIGHT FOR POKER, you don't just call when someone bets if you have a good hand, YOU RAISE THEM.
Guaranteed if you get more people there than them, they will look like fools plain on simple. You don't need to have a message it will get out everywhere quicker than wildfire. |

If you also want to make a good dent
Go after the people directly support this bill. GET ON TOP OF KYL, spend say another $60,000 and run ANTI KYL adds in Arizona. You don't need to say you support Pederson that would not be a good thing. But just make sure people DO NOT support KYL, headlines "main supporter of banning internet gambling in the senate gets voted out of office" will put the brakes on real quick. This isn't a time to hold funds or plan your next move, DROP THE HAMMER, put everything into getting KYL out.

Re: Interent Gambling Update: Leach and Frist in Cedar Rapids 8/31
At least they have been out there addressing this issue in the press and with members of Congress, and more pros should get active on this issue. Unfortunately, due to the short one day notice they cannot be there. The fact is that those poker players that can show up should show up, and Congress and the media needs to hear from the average joe poker player that loves to play for the sheer entertainment value and not always those who rely on Poker for their livelihood.

[ QUOTE ]
Message from a member: I just called Senator Leach's office and was informed that this is purely a propaganda opportunity where they will allow anyone agreeing with banning internet gambling to speak and no one else. How sad. [/ QUOTE ] That sounds like bullchit. What politician would actually say that? I think you're member misheard someone. |

It probably is not word for word, and it probably was not an official spokesperson that's for certain. It probably was one of the interns in the Iowa office.

Don\'t cut and run, stand up for PPA members, why need an invite ?
Uhmmm, 1. .... Leach is not a Senator
2. If you did not know that before, I am very disappointedin your lack o political acumen. Of course these are not real "hearings" !!! You were not INVITED, but get your people there anyway and raise some public outcry .... Let your PPA memebers heckle them, whatever ... This is politics, not a cocktail party at the Rio. 3. THAT exclusion is your hook for story for the television/media ... Leach and Frist want to shut out millions of poker players .... AND shut down their poker games. Damn right it is a "propganda opportunity", USE IT. Don't cut and run, stand up for Poker Players |

Re: Don\'t cut and run, stand up for PPA members, why need an invite ?
Is your simple reason to just flame the PPA or me? Fine. Nice Job.
1. As I said, this was from a member's e-mail. 2. I am well aware of this fact, and I know we are not invited. I hope that hundreds of members show up. Heckling and shouting down the speakers is fun, but sophomoric if you ask my opinion. We want a dialogue, and poker players to be respected by the media and elsewhere. Perhaps other organizations are out there to do this, but this is not what the PPA is about. There is no cut and run, so I do not quite get this. We will meet with whatever news organization is out there, and I would like the average poker player to speak, not just the PPA. |
