JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
Hi,
I've been playing NL25 6-max for a few days, previously I was playing 6-max limit. I think I botched this one, despite the result I think I need to learn about pot control because I think I lost it on this one, villian is about 65/10/1 and we're a bit deep (~$40), I don't remember if his rises were that big but I rember I thought that raise looked very donkish (possible mistake?): Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $23.10 UTG+1: $40.25 CO: $6.75 Button: $16.20 SB: $32 Hero: $101.33 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 raises to $1.76, 3 folds, Hero raises to $6, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls. Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($12.35, 2 players) Hero bets $10, UTG+1 calls. Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($32.35, 2 players) Hero bets $25 Despite my generally reckless play I've been doing well, I got a bit more than 13k hands at a little more than 10PTBB/100. Besides feedback on the hand could someone post some links to threads or articles on pot control or other suggestions? Do I need to get No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice ASAP? Thank you. Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
I don't mind it at all, there's no reason to think your JJ isn't good yet and villain only has $24 left on the turn. Put him in. You'll win here more often than you lose.

Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
youre ahead of his range with him being some ridiculous 65/10 or w/e.
seems really loose passive, lose to sets, stack him when he has A8, AK, 99, TT, he doesnt fold those hands. |

Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
OK thanks for the replies, he called my bet with TT, river 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and I stacked him, for some reason I thought he could easily had queens and got scared because of my big rerise, the money was going in anyways and a 1 post-flop for his stats means aggro I think (I'm new to NL but at least in limit it is aggro).

Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
65/10/1 means loose preflop (though his preflop raises probably represent something decent) and relatively passive postflop. The way he played this hand is right in line with his stats.

Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
I'm fairly new to using pt stats while playing, and I was wondering what kind of raising range 65/10 would indicate exactly? He's obviously playing far too many hands preflop, but it seems like a fairly snug raising range. I personally would slow down a little since his opening raise was slightly overlarge. Couldn't your big reraise just scare him into playing an overpair weak and calling you down? If anybody could tell me more about the (raising)ranges you assume from his stats i'd be much obliged.

Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
I play 6-max. My preflop opening range is close to 10 as well (actually slightly higher, mainly because I mix in suited connectors in good spots), and includes AJ+, ATs, 88+ no matter the situation, and suited aces and smaller pairs when the situation calls for it.

Re: JJ - OOP, facing rise, NL25 6-max
sometimes you gotta be reckless, he shouldn't have a six there on the turn and you would have gotten raised on the flop by an overpair. id say that was good pot control.

This is most often 77-99.
