Re: 17 incher laptops a little too big for college classes?
[ QUOTE ]
They are too big for desks and, more annoyingly, airplanes. I have a 17" screen and if I were able to choose again, I would definitely go with 15" or smaller. [/ QUOTE ] +1 edit: in fact, so much so that in spite of the fact that i paid $1600 for this laptop a little over a year ago, i think i'm going to buy a new one because its just too [censored] inconvenient. |

Re: 17 incher laptops a little too big for college classes?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The only people I have ever seen bring their labtop to class are either super-anal note-takes, or just people who wanna play games during class (online poker?). But, if you get a smaller screen labtop, you can always get a larger screen seperate monitor later. [/ QUOTE ] This is interesting to me. Law school, 95% of people will have laptops. I don't see anythign inherently different between law school and undergrad liberal arts classes, except maybe the prep materials. [/ QUOTE ] 0-5% will have laptops in undergrad classes. |

Re: 17 incher laptops a little too big for college classes?
it's rare to see laptops in undergrad classes. I used one in most classes and was usually the only one. In big lectures I would notice more. I just used it to surf the web and play poker, and only did it because my school had an attendance policy. If your school doesn't just stay in your room and play.

Re: 17 incher laptops a little too big for college classes?
So I was planning on getting the 17" macbook pro to take to school. Should I instead consider getting the 15.4"? I'm guessing i'll almost never take the laptop to class as none of them will be over 20 people, though I would sometimes carry it around if I wanted to work in the library/outside.
