They redeem your points, right? So maybe some people would rather have the points than the cash.

I see -- has anyone done the math to figure out whether the cash is much worse than, say, the most re-sellable merchandise item? E.g. if I could get an ipod that i could sell on ebay for $200 for the same number of points that they would only redeem for $100, then i'd rather opt out...

taking the cash has many times more value then taking the points and getting items for them(in excess of 10X better i am told)
