Default Flopped a flush, and the turn pairs the board

I've only got 18 hands on villain. He's either running hot or he's a maniac. Can't tell which yet, of course. So far he's been taking down all the pots he's been in, including winning a large pot with a set earlier. So he could be a good player as well.

CO is a very unbright calling station. I'm actually surprised he folded on this flop.

0.25/0.50 NLHE 6-max 6 players

Stacks:
Hero - $144
SB - $164

Hero is BB w/ T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Preflop: UTG folds, MP folds, CO calls, Button folds, SB completes, Hero checks

($3) Flop (3 players): A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
SB bets $5, Hero raises to $20, CO folds, SB calls

($43) Turn (2 players): A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I'm more interested in the theory here, than what I should actually do with this hand. So, some questions for discussion...

How often am I behind to a bigger flush?

How often is the boat out there when the board pairs?

Do I want to slow down on a paired board or is the chance of a boat unlikely enough that I should still be moving ahead full-throttle?

Last, how do stack sizes affect my play when the board pairs like this?

Kindve depends on SB's action.

I think you are behind a bigger flush sometimes, but the likely hood of a nut draw (K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) or TP(Ace) are higher.

I think a boat is here sometimes as well.

I would often bet the turn (if SB checks) and check behind the river, sometimes betting the river for value depending on villan.

Stacks are very deep and should be taken in consideration. I would probably fold to any c/r on the turn or a strong river bet.

If sb check´s turn i would lead about 3/4 of a pot.if i get called i would shut down to a second pair card or another diamond.
I would valuebet this hand against most villans, but its seems to be a hand that cant stand a reraise.
