If this needs to get moved...no biggy...but I don't need tech support.
I'm bored. I rebuilt my PC from scratch last night and have not been keeping up-to-date these past few years on bells & whistles. Please recommend me some 'must have' downloads. Anything from media players to desktop replacements to whatever. Give Mat a break please, nothing pirated. Just free crap. TIA |

I always really like ACDSee or however they spell it, an image viewer that's very fast.
I just got Intellect, a pretty cool contact manager/to do/appointment reminder/notes maker/e-mail thingy. I'm still exploring all the different ways I can organize stuff and work up the different print-outs. You can even mail-merge and such. Tons of customizable fields too. Kinda cool that it is user specific, not computer specific, so you can put it on any computer. It's small, so I put it on a USB flash drive as well as my work computer. Pretty righteous for people who want to keep all their schedule and contact info with them and have it printable and updatable anywhere, but don't want to drag their laptop everywhere. I got a durable little rubber-coated 4 gig flash drive from Newegg to put it on, and now I've got a lot of info handy wherever I go. I just sync up my newer with my older files if I make changes and go between computers. Real quick, and easier to carry around than a CD with info on it, and handier than e-mailing myself documents and having to download them somewhere and then leave traces all over everywhere I go. |

i find google's webmail client to be far better than thunderbird unless you specifically need pop features (you don't if you need to ask). you can set up gmail to hijack an existing account.
