Default Too passive with JJ HU?

I'm trying to tone down my aggression a bit, but is this hand
too passive? The "old me" would have capped PF and taken
it from there, would this have been a better line?

Villian seemed pretty aggressive, so my fear on flop/turn
was that he will fold worse hands and raise hands that
beat me. But what about the river?

Button is 34/16/2.8.

I think this is fine to mix it up. You are likely ahead and could play a few different ways without much impact on EV.

Generally I would want to take the lead at some point, either cap pf/lead, ck-r flop, or donk river with a non A- K- board. This guy is aggressive enough he'll probably bet every street with or without a hand.

There's no magic solution here. If you bet, you run into the risk of either getting pushed off of the best hand (if you're bet-folding) or paying two bets to get to showdown versus top-pair or better (if you're bet-calling).

At one time, the check-call, check-call, bet line was heavily advertised around here (in the Small Stakes full ring forum, anyway), but I never fully trusted it and didn't use it much (possibly to my detriment), so I can't speak either way for its results.

Anyway, this is one of those spots where if you check the river and he checks, you'll wonder if you should have bet, and if you bet the river and he raises, you'll wish you had checked.

This doesn't necessarily mean you would have been better off check-calling those times that Villain checks behind, though. If he thinks he's got a TAG read on you, Villain might bluff-raise a worse hand he wouldn't bet himself.

Uh, so those are some thoughts. Betting will sometimes get calls from ace-high hands and worse PPs that might take the free showdown if you offer one, but he'll fold the ace-high sometimes, maybe he'll raise with it occasionally, and probably I would just check-call in your position.

I don't actually know what's best versus an otherwise unknown 34/16/2.8.

I think wray wraps this one up pretty nicely. Flop c/r is my preferred line on this board as it puts the most pressure on overcards to fold.

Cap preflop and c/r that flop?
I think I'd fold to a 3-bet on the flop but that might be weak.
