I always thought Vlad the Impaler got a bad deal, I mean you imaple one or two guys and the name just sort of sticks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Impaling in his sense isn't exactly what we would consider 'impaling.' When he impaled people, he shoved pointed sticks up their rectums and into their spines and watched them dangle there and bleed out in extraordinary pain. Actually oftentimes he would put tons of people on sticks in a circle and he would eat a meal in the middle of the circle, listening to their screams.

Is this really ture by the way? My response was mainly to teh fact that popular culture doesn't object to restaurants being named after him. Do historians treat him "with dignity and respect?"

[/ QUOTE ]

Im basing that opinion on a history channel special that covered him from his childhood as Temojin all the way through his death, a fascinating special that basically made him out to be a noble hero.

However, he didn't kill as many people, and the passages you quoted suggesting he might have seem very suspect to me

Take it up with wikipedia.

Where does George W fall in all of this? I guess I shouldn't be eating any Tex-Mex.
