Hand is over.

He would have raised preflop with JJ+ so it was almost clear he had quads, but this is only a .1/.2 table so he could easily be capping it with the 8. So should i have gone into check call mode or was i better to milk it for value since odds of him having quads are so slim?

Realistic to put someone on exactly quads, very, very rarely. And you should very, very rarely put someone on exactly one hand. However, include quads in their ranges? All the time.

Hand Converter?

It's always fun to have AK on a board of Q8888 when your opponent turns over pocket queens at showdown. Cause those situations come up all the time.

My personal rule is that I always pay off quads. Tehre's no shame in losing to quads w/your boat or flush, but there's a lot of shame in folding the best hand because you're afraid of quads.

Assuming I read the hand right (really hard to read). You played it fine.

The villian bet called the flop and check raised/capped the turn. Villian clearly isn't afraid of anything you have.

FWIW, I wouldn't worry about quads until he caps the turn. This is assuming I don't have a read on villian as passive or aggro.

More seriously than my last post I definately agree here. But do you cap it too? If I have the top set of a full house AA on a A99xx board for example, (not necessarily in that order) I'm capping that pretty much everytime, especially if there's a cap and it's coordinated for straights/flushes. I figure if he's lucky enough to have precisely 99 in the hole, good for him. I trust that isn't a spew?

FWIW, right after replying to this thread, I had pocket kings and got kings full on a board with three 4's. I figured the other guy had quads by the way he was reraising, but I paid him off anyway. I lost, but honestly, how often do you come up against quads?
