$25 NL - turn play, comments please
Villain is 76/38/1.75 over 20 hands.
To help with my image, Hero is 35/16/1.52 over 170 hands for this session. This turn play is something I do rarely. I'm just wondering if it is ever correct to do so. I figure villain for top pair here. Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 3 players Converter Stack sizes: Button: $32.70 Hero: $54.85 BB: $15 Pre-flop: (3 players) Hero is SB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Button folds, Hero raises to $0.75, BB calls. Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($1.5, 2 players) Hero bets $1, BB raises to $2, Hero calls. Re: $25 NL - turn play, comments please
preflop I make it 4x big blind myself.
I check-call the turn, you gained a nice draw with it, I dont mind watching the river what happens. |

i hate gay min raisers, just call his turn bet and stack him when you hit on the river, hes so short stacked its not even worth it to try to run him off his top pair so just call, and fold if you miss but definately call if any spade or seven or nine hits

Shameless bump.
I definitely could use some more critiquing here. Thanks. |

Re: $25 NL - turn play, comments please
Yeah I think you should definitely just call down the river card since he has almost 1/3 of his stack in the pot already, raising it 15 is just pot committing him.
I think your best bet is to play the river aggressively if you hit your spade, either with a raise or a reraise (him AI). He's definitely committed at this point and won't get away from his hand, and you should beat him barring a FH. If you miss your spade, just call it down or fold, no reason to pay him 10 dollars to find out that he has you beat. |

Re: $25 NL - turn play, comments please
if you put the guy on top pair because you've been watching him i don't like this move cos no way is he folding top pair IMO. better to call and pot the river if you improve, i'd think he'll pay off your backdoor flush. if he's aggro you could check-raise if you improve to 2pair or trips but whether he's aggro or not i still think i prefer potting out if you make the flush.
if he could have a wider range here like Q9, TT, a straight draw, etc, i like your move lots more. |
