Open a can of worms
3 handed $30/60. I raise A2o on the button and the small blind 3 bets me I call. The flop is AQ5 rainbow and the small blind bets.
Up until this point I've been jamming pretty much every street with any piece of any board. I decide to switch it up slightly and just call with position here. I figure I don't want to jam in a ton of bets in a "I'm either way ahead or way behind" situation and I'm content with either letting the villain turn me into a calling station or bluff off some chips. Am I misapplying this concept in a shorthanded game? Should I usually be jamming any piece of the board? How about in a full ring game in the same situation? Turn brings a rainbow 8. Bet/call. River brings another A (which obviously makes it less likely he has one). He bets and I figure he might be value betting a Q here so I raise. He calls and we chop it up. Did I stupidly open a can of worms here? Should the line here be bet and fold to a raise or does that just open a can of worms for future play? |

Re: Open a can of worms
If you've been jamming any piece you can't bet/fold anywhere - this is fine.

I like your line. I play it the same on every street.

Re: Open a can of worms
3handed situations might get more responses in the mid-high shorthanded forum. Anyway...
I would raise the flop and keep betting unless my opponent raises or bets out at me later in the hand. If this happens I would call down. Considering the fact that you've been playing very aggressively, I think this lends even more weight to raising the flop, as your opponent may figure you for a Q, 5, or maybe a pocket pair and be willing to call you down lighter than usual. Just my opinion... |

Re: Open a can of worms
I like it especially river raise. If you've been jamming everything prior, this line is great for mixing it up.
