Rat in my house
I moved into my house at school last weekend. Tonight, I get back from work, I walk into the kitchen to make myself some food and there, scurrying behind my stove, is a giant [censored] rat. Supposedly my roommates had seen it a few days ago and put out some rattraps with cheese (I know that peanut butter is better than cheese, my roommates are idiots, but I changed that).
Anyway, does anyone have any stories about/recommendations for getting rid of a rat? |

Re: Rat in my house
Go out and buy the pellets. They work wonders, but make sure to find the rat after it's dead.

Re: Rat in my house
1. Acquire Mossberg 500 shotgun and 00 buckshot
2. Cover front iron sight with peanut butter 3. Wait in darkness near last rat sighting 4. When target stands up to eat peanut butter, apply gentle pressure to trigger, do not pull. If rat problems persist, upgrade shotgun and ammo |

Re: Rat in my house
I've never had rats in my house (ummm, ewww?) but the Bay Area, South Bay in particular, has a pretty large roof-rat problem.
About 17 years old I moved into a duplex in Sunnyvale. It had a garage that I setup a portion of as my computer room and would spend quite a bit of time out there. One night out of the corner of my eye, I catch something 'move'. Upon further investigation (staring), I found out what was going on. the roof-rats had chewed a hole from the outside into the garage and up into the attic. In order to complete the journey, they had to cross about a 3 foot long 2*4 in plain sight. My nights very quickly turned from playing games on the computer to stalking roof-rats with a pellet gun. After taking out 4-5 of them I never saw another and it was so [censored] fun I missed them when they where gone. I've often considered moving to the projects just so that I could relive the fun which I had in my youth, but have never followed through... |
